"We'll always have each other" - Big Mac

Once the guests had left the annual Apple Family Reunion, Applejack trotted into the her shiny new barn to admire it.
"It's amazing what a family can do together, right?" a voice behind Applejack asked.
"Yeah, family..." She turned around and saw Granny Smith, Applebloom, and Big Macintosh at the door.
"Plus some nails, paint, and wood too!" Applebloom said.
"I can't believe that everypony came! Everypony and their aunts, uncles, parents.." Applejack responded as she lowered her hat from her head.
"Eeyup."
"It's so wonderful, but at the same time it almost makes ya feel lonely too."
"Now what's this talk 'bout loneliness, Applejack?" Granny Smith replied as she walked closer to her. Applejack's head hung low in sorrow because of the emptiness in her heart. It had been many years since she had last seen her parents.
"I miss them. I'm surrounded by friends and family but I never could have felt lonelier!"
Big Mac trotted to her side and said, "It's alright, they loved us."
"But I never even got to say goodbye!" she yelled as her cheeks streamed with tears. With a flash, she had ran out of the barn and into the apple orchard, her only silent sanctuary. Big Mac caught up to her and followed her into the trees. All the while, Applebloom stood watching and wondering. She had been too young to remember. Therefore the only parent she had ever known was Granny Smith.

Big Mac followed the sound of soft whimpers to Applejack's favorite spot in the middle of the grove. He approached her slowly and quietly. Almost too quietly, because she jumped when he sat down beside her.
"Shh, it's alright" he began to say. Big Mac had always had problems talking to others. He had always felt as if the clearer your thought process could be, the better. And his genuine shyness also got in the way. Lucky for him, there are sometimes when words need not be said. The presence of another pony being enough to fill the gap.
After a few minutes or so, he spoke.
"I know the feeling you get when our family is around. It's like something's missin'."
Applejack stared into the distance and listened to the pleasing sound of her brother's hardly heard voice.
"But at the end of the day when we must face reality, they ain't gon' be here. But I will... and I know that we'll always have each other."

What was the true story of Big Mac and Applejack's parents and why they are gone?
Last week's episode, Apple Family Reunion, inspired me to make this. Applejack said, "Every apple family member is coming" which means that their parents are truly gone because they didn't show up. I apologize for my lack of talent when it comes to writing fanfics .-. But this picture was yelling “MUST HAVE FANFIC” at me. So it’s short and sweet, just to add some explanation to the picture.
